Mr. Aires has over 30 years of continued experience in Corporate and Banking Law and Credit Reorganization and Restructuring.
He is a member of Demarest Advogados since 2001, and a Partner since 2002. He is in charge of the Banking and Corporate Reorganization and Restructuring areas, currently merged into a larger area of Corporate Finance.
Among the clients he has assisted and presently assists are Santander, Safra, Banco do Brasil, HSBC, General Electric, Credit Suisse, Cetelem, BGN, Banco Pátria, CSN, ISS Servisystem, Banco Espírito Santo de Investimento, Deloitte Consultoria, Busscar, Ambev, and Adecco.
Among the financial operations and also in and out of court reorganizations, we highlight the international lease of railway equipment between Banco Santander and Ferronorte, later transferred to Vale do Rio Doce, the financing by Banco Santander to an oil exploitation equipment company, collateralized by the vessel and receivables from Petrobras, Project Finance funded by Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES - Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social) transferred by BBA (currently Itaubba) for the construction and operation of three small hydroelectric power plants, structured financing transaction for the port terminals company Santos Brasil, loan by the Federal Savings Bank (Caixa Econômica Federal) to Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN) in the amount of R$ 1 billion, Buyer's Credit export financing operation and participation in Collateral Package with funds from the BNDES, representing the borrower, Transportadora de Gas de Peru, and structuring of various guarantees for Banco Comercial de Peru in local operations of Brazilian companies such as Ambev and Odebrecht.In regard to in-court or out-of-court reorganization and restructuring procedures in which Mr. Aires works or has worked, the restructuring of Vale do Ivaí Sugar-Cane Mill and wind-power company Tecsis deserves a special mention.In regard to in-court reorganization procedures, Mr. Aires had a significant participation in the following: Varig, Agrenco, Frigorifico Independência, Busscar, Insol, Delta Engenharia, Passaredo and Grupo Rede.
