Graduated from the University of São Paulo – USP in 1999 and with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of California at Berkeley in 2007, Marise focuses on Environmental Law. She has served as a Visiting Scholar at the Environmental Law Institute in Washington, DC. Amongst her regular clients she advises large Brazilian and multinational companies leaders in the sectors of infrastructure, industrial chemical / pharmaceutical, forestry and agriculture. She regularly advises leading companies in the Brazilian market, for example, Eli Lilly, AkzoNobel and Solvay.


  • 2015: Advised a major Brazilian company in the forestry sector in the judicial and administrative litigation of disputes with Federal environmental authorities in the Amazon worth USD5MM
  • 2014: Advised Eli Lilly in a Class Action filed by the Labor District Attorney, involving environmental contamination claims worth USD500MM
  • 2013: Advised Assisted a major Brazilian company in the logistics sector in conducting public hearings to discuss the implementation of a logistics system for the pipeline transportation of ethanol
