Labeling of Allergens approved by ANVISA

On this Friday, ANVISA (National Health Surveillance Agency) published the Resolution RDC No. 26, dated of July 02, 2015, which regulates the requirements for mandatory labeling of the main foods causing allergies. The Resolution further comprises a list of ingredients that should appear on the labels of foods and drinks. Thus, all labels must expressly inform that the food is a byproduct of wheat, eggs, mint, dairy, among others.

According to the normative resolution, manufacturers will have a period of twelve months to adapt their packaging.

We have been monitoring discussions on product labeling, including foods, drinks and even chemicals, and are available to clarify any doubts about labeling regulations.
