In February 2016, Demarest Advogados started a partnership with the newly-founded Brazilian Legal Society (BLS), a students' association at New York University School of Law (NYU Law) whose objective is to increase Brazil's exposure at the University.

BLS intends to attract to the University Brazilian and foreign authorities, professors and attorneys, entrepreneurs, economists and other professionals specialized in Brazil to discuss different topics related to the country. The purpose is to bring together professors and the more than 1,500 students at NYU Law and Brazilian companies and law firms to facilitate the exchange of students and business and increase the professionals' exposure.

Demarest supports this initiative as one of the sponsors and supporters of BLS for its first year of activities. In February 2016, attorneys Letícia Wanderley and Beatriz Buchaim, who are currently LLM students in Corporation Law at NYU Law, participated in BLS' foundation. Letícia was elected to compose the Executive Board of the Association occupying the position of Careers Officer, whereas Demarest's partner Adriana Daiuto will participate as speaker in BLS' Seminar "Brazil: Looking Beyond the Crisis" that will be held on April 11 at NYU Law.

Among other distinguished speakers from the areas of law, economics and political sciences, the Seminar will have the participation of Luís Roberto Barroso, Justice of the Brazilian Supreme Court, as keynote speaker. Please click here to confirm your presence at the event.
