Demarest promotes six new partners who will work in strategic areas of the firm

With the aim of further strengthening the excellence of the services provided to its clients, Demarest appoints six new partners: Ana Paula Pinheiro Schedel, Guilherme Fontes Bechara, João Paulo Minetto, Raphael Gomes, Thereza Maria Sarfert Franco Montoro and Victor Bovarotti Lopes.

Ana Paula Pinheiro Schedel (Contracts and International Law) holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from PUC-SP and a master’s degree from USP. Her many years of experience includes working closely with both local and international companies from different market segments.


Guilherme Fontes Bechara (Corporate Restructuring) holds a Master’s degree in Corporate Governance and Practice from Stanford Law School (USA) and Civil Law from PUC-SP. Throughout his career, he has specialized in Civil Litigation, Arbitration and Restructuring of Companies, acting more specifically in processes of judicial reorganization and bankruptcy.




João Paulo Minetto (Mergers and Acquisitions and Capital Markets) holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from USP and a post-graduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania (USA). His career includes acting as a consultant to both local and international companies in the negotiation of transactional matters, including the structuring of operations related to capital market funding, comprising equity, debt and securitization.








Raphael Gomes (Energy) holds a bachelor’s degree from UFRJ and a post-graduate degree in Corporate Law with specializations in Regulatory Law of Electric Energy and Civil Procedural Law from FGV-RJ. A specialist in regulatory matters in both the Free Contracting Environment (ACL) and the Regulated Contracting Environment (ACR), Raphael has extensive experience in consultative and contentious issues involving Generation, Distribution, Transmission, Commercialization, Free Consumers, Regulatory Agencies and relevant Granting Authorities.




Thereza Maria Sarfert Franco Montoro (Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions) holds a bachelor’s degree in Law and a Master’s in Commercial Law, both from USP. She specializes in the areas of Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions, with almost two decades of experience with both local and international companies.






Victor Bovarotti Lopes (International Trade and Customs, Government Relations and Tax). Victor holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from PUC-SP, a master’s degree in Tax Law from INSPER, as well as a master’s degree, with honors, in International Legal Studies from Georgetown University (USA). Victor has represented clients in significant cases involving various matters such as customs valuation, tax classification, tax planning, import licensing, interpretation of trade agreements (mainly Mercosur) and special customs regimes (drawback, RECOF, REPETRO, among others).
