Partner in Demarest’s Insurance, Reinsurance, Health and Private Pension practice, Camila Affonso Prado holds a Master’s degree and a PhD in Civil Law from the University of São Paulo (USP), as well as a postgraduate degree in Civil Law from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie. With extensive experience in the areas of insurance and reinsurance, she advises local and foreign clients in the regulation of complex claims, especially involving the areas of Financial Lines, General Civil Liability, Surety Bonds and Cyber Risks. She develops and reviews insurance programs, policy clauses and reinsurance contracts, in addition to working on strategic insurance litigation and arbitration cases. Camila is listed in leading local and international legal publications such as Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500 and Who’s Who Legal.

  • Assisted clients regarding changes introduced by Law No. 14,599/2023 in regard to highway cargo transport.
  • Advising insurance companies in the regulation of Cyber Risk claims, involving a ransomware attack on the insured’s computer network systems, with a potential contingency of BRL 50 million.
  • Advising a panel of foreign reinsurers in the regulation of a D&O claim involving a Class Action proposed in the United States of America by investors who suffered losses due to a drop in the value of the borrower’s shares.
  • Acting in a subrogation lawsuit that discusses civil liability for damages caused to the roof of the Maracanã stadium as a result of the fireworks show held at the closing ceremony of the 2014 World Cup.
  • Worked on the development and review of clauses of insurance policies of various lines, such as D&O, E&O, General Civil Liability, Environmental Risks, Recall and Port Operators.
