Partner of Demarest’s Competition Law and Antitrust areas, Paola Pugliese has a Bachelor’s Degree in Law by the University of São Paulo (USP) and a Master’s Degree in Competition Law by the Universität Freiburg in Breisgau, Germany. She has 15 years of experience in Competition Law / Antitrust, focusing on global mergers and acquisitions. She aggregates a vast portfolio of cartel cases and other investigations related to anticompetitive behavior, assisting in the creation and implementation of compliance programs. She has broad experience in several sectors of the Brazilian economy, including mining, aviation, pharmaceutical industry, medical devices, transport, oil and gas, food and beverages, retail, refrigerators, aviation kerosene, among many others. Paola has ensured the approval of hundreds of mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures in Brazil, including some of the longest and most complex ones in recent years, and has successfully opposed to mergers on behalf of her clients.
