eBOOK | Oncology in Brazil: From Innovation to Access

October 30th, 2026

This Pink October, we are taking a broader look at the advances and challenges that characterize oncology care in Brazil. Advances in innovation within this sector have been transforming the possibilities for diagnosing and treating cancer. Targeted therapies, immunotherapies, personalized medicine, cell and gene therapies, radiopharmaceuticals, and new diagnostic methods are now part of an increasingly sophisticated scientific and technological landscape. This progress also presents a significant challenge: turning innovation into effective access. In Brazil, delivering access to new health technologies involves multiple stages and stakeholders, from research and development, marketing authorization and pricing to incorporation, funding, procurement, and delivery to patients in both the public and supplementary health systems. In this context, we present the e-book “Oncology in Brazil: From Innovation to Access,” which provides a comprehensive overview of the legal, regulatory, and institutional landscapes governing innovation in oncology care. This guide covers the legal landscape of oncology in Brazil; the marketing authorization and pricing procedures; the incorporation of technologies into the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) and the supplementary health system; funding and procurement mechanisms; the reorganization of pharmaceutical care in oncology through AF-Onco; healthcare litigation; and strategies aimed at the sustainable adoption of new technologies.
