Partner in Demarest’s Tax area, Douglas Mota holds a master’s degree and specialization in Tax Law from PUC-SP. He has a strong presence in tax consulting and in administrative litigation. Among his main clients are industries, retailers and companies in the energy and services sectors, as well as education and social assistance associations in procedures for recognition of tax immunity and resulting situations. Douglas is a professor of specialization courses at Escola Paulista de Direito (EPD) and the Brazilian Institute of Energy Law Studies (IBDE) as well as MBA courses.

Fabio Florentino

Partner in Demarest’s Tax practice area, Fabio Florentino holds a master’s degree in Corporate Law from IBMEC, a postgraduate degree in Tax Law from Associação Paulista de Estudos Tributários (APET-SP) and a bachelor’s degree in Legal Sciences from Universidade Cidade de São Paulo (UNICID). Fabio concentrates his practice directly on matters relating to indirect taxes and customs. Throughout more than 20 years of experience, Fabio has carried out several different projects, such as tax planning, matters concerning the review of tax procedures and audits (Compliance), as well as cases involving tax disputes. His main clients include Brazilian and international companies from a wide range of sectors, including the automotive, healthcare, telecommunications, aviation, technology, mining and retail industries.

Jerry Levers

Partner in Demarest’s Tax area, Jerry Levers de Abreu holds a specialization in Tax Law from the Law School of PUC-SP and a bachelor’s degree in Law from the Law School of USF. His main clients include domestic and international companies, with an emphasis on indirect taxes and taxation in sectors such as automotive, information technology, telecommunications, intellectual property, food, health and cosmetics. Jerry Levers de Abreu is widely recognized by major legal publications, such as Chambers Brazil, International Tax Review, LACCA Approved, The Legal 500, Latin Lawyer 250, and Análise Advocacia 500.

Thiago Abiatar

Partner in the Tax practice area of Demarest, Thiago Abiatar Lopes Amaral holds an LLM, with honors, in Law from Northwestern University Pritzker School Law, an LLM in Tax Law from the Institute of Education and Research (Insper) and a specialization in Tax Law from PUC-SP. Thiago regularly advises large and medium-sized companies in tax litigation and in the advisory area with an emphasis on indirect taxes, serving clients from various sectors of the economy.
