Partner in the Tax practice area of Demarest, Gisele Barra Bossa holds a master’s degree and postgraduate degree lato sensu in Economic Law Sciences from the University of Coimbra (Portugal) and is in course as a doctoral student at the same institution. She served as a judge at the Administrative Tax Court of Appeals (CARF) for four years and has a strong presence in the areas of tax litigation and advisory. In addition, she has managed strategic litigation areas in corporations from various economic segments and has experience in government relations. Gisele is a guest lecturer in postgraduate courses and has lectured at the Faculty of Law at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie in Campinas and at the Faculty of Administration at Fundação Escola de Comércio Álvares Penteado.

  • Served as judge of the 1st Section of the Administrative Tax Court of Appeals (CARF) between September 2017 and May 2021.
  • Acted in the strategic management of the administrative and judicial tax litigation areas of multinational companies in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, publishing as well as retail segments.
  • Participated in international tax planning and due diligence operations for the completion of corporate restructurings.
  • Coordinated, in the field of technical studies: the Tax Litigation Transparency Index (ICAT) Research Project, of the Tax Studies Center (NEF) of FGV Direito SP (2014/2015); the Committee on Legal-Tax Affairs and International Taxation, of the Applied Tax Study Group (GETAP) (2015/2017); and the Research Projects of the New Technologies Taxation Center, of the Professional Master’s Degree at FGV Direito SP (2018/2020).
