Demarest Expands Restructuring and Bankruptcy Practice with New Partner

Carolina Mascarenhas will focus on judicial and extrajudicial reorganizations, advising creditors and investors in an increasingly specialized market.
São Paulo, September 16th, 2025 – Demarest Advogados, one of the largest and most respected full-service law firms in Latin America, announces Carolina Mascarenhas as a new partner in the Restructuring and Insolvency practice, joining the São Paulo office.
With more than 16 years of experience in the market, Carolina has built a solid career in judicial and extrajudicial reorganizations and bankruptcy, representing creditors and strategic investors in highly complex cases and offering innovative solutions.
Her work also includes corporate and debt restructuring (advisory and litigation), investment transactions in companies in financial distress, acquisitions of isolated production units (UPIs) and other distressed assets (high-risk investments that include assets of companies in financial difficulty), DIP (Debtor-in-Possession) financing, and legal opinions focused on the acquisition of credit rights and court-ordered debts.
Holding a bachelor’s degree in law from USP and a specialization from FGV-SP, Carolina also participates in Bankruptcy Law study groups at such institution. She is a member of industry organizations such as TMA Brasil (Turnaround Management Association) and IWIRC (International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation), as well as specialized committees of IASP (São Paulo Lawyers’ Institute) and IBRADEMP (Brazilian Institute of Business Law). She has authored numerous articles in legal publications and technical books, actively contributing to the development of the practice in Brazil by studying topics that help improve legislation. She has been recognized in rankings from prominent legal publications such as The Legal 500.
