Brazil’s antitrust watchdog is about to stall

By November, the board of Cade — Brazil’s antitrust authority — will have four of its seven board seats vacant. As a result, the body responsible for analyzing mergers and acquisitions with possible relevant impacts on competition (in addition to judging economic infractions such as cartel practices) could be at a standstill for months.
