Demarest Announces New Data Privacy and Intellectual Property Partner

Demarest announces the arrival of another partner to its firm. Eduardo Magrani will join Tatiana Campello to further strengthen the teams of Intellectual Property and Innovation and Data Privacy and Cybersecurity with his solid experience in data protection, digital law and intellectual property. With strong international experience, specialized in strategic research and development consultancy related to the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and data protection, Magrani is considered a strategic addition for the growth of the firm’s practice areas that have been gaining prominence in recent years.

The new partner is a graduate of Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ), from which he also holds a masters and doctoral degree. He is also a postdoctoral fellow at the Munich Center for Technology in Society at the Technical University of Munich, Germany, as well as being affiliated with the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University (USA).

In Brazil, Eduardo is president of the National Data Protection Institute (INPD) and founding member of the Data Protection Commission at the Rio de Janeiro Brazilian Bar Association (OAB/RJ). He was a co-developer of the first comprehensive Internet law in Brazil: Marco Civil da Internet and is also the author of books on digital culture.

“The entry into force of the Brazilian General Personal Data Protection Law (LGPD) in September requires and will require continuous adaptation by companies.
