Partner in Demarest’s Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions practice areas, Décio Pior Borges de Castro holds a master’s degree in Law (LL.M.) from the London School of Economic and Political Science (England), an MBA in Corporate Finance from FGV and a bachelor’s degree in Law from PUC-RJ. For more than 20 years, Décio has dedicated his practice to matters involving corporate and trade law, and corporate governance, particularly in M&A transactions, joint ventures, investments and divestments, corporate finance and crisis management. Décio has advised on complex transactions and critical crisis management cases. He has experience assessing risks and helping clients make strategic decisions, whether seeking the most favorable position in negotiations or ensuring business protection and continuity.   • Advised an international investor in the investment and divestment process of greenfield wind power generation assets totaling BRL 75 million.
  • Advised an international energy group in the acquisition of a significant equity interest in a Brazilian group holding wind power generation assets valued at more than BRL 10 billion.
  • Advised multiple insurance companies in underwriting and risk assessment proceedings for issuing Representations and Warranties insurance policies in M&A transactions across the automotive, technology, and energy sectors.
  • Advised an international group in negotiations with B3 for developing a local carbon credit trading platform.
  • Advised an international group in an energy self-consumption development with investment valued at more than BRL 2 billion and an installed power capacity of nearly 500 MW.
