Partner in Demarest’s Dispute Resolution practice area, Ricardo de Carvalho Aprigliano is an associate professor (Habilitation in Law), who holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in Procedural Law from USP. He is a coordinator and professor at USP’s postgraduate course in Procedural Law, in collaboration with the AASP, and serves as Vice-President of the Center for Arbitration and Mediation of the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada (CAM-CCBC). Ricardo is a Fellow at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIARB), and has been recognized by international publications such as Who’s Who Legal, Chambers & Partners, and Leaders League.

  • Arbitrated more than 100 cases since 2012, all governed by different arbitral institutions, such as CAM-CCBC, CMA-FIESP, CAM B3, CCI, FGV, CAMARB and AMCHAM
  • Advised an investment fund, as a minority shareholder, in an arbitration proceeding filed against a corporation that claimed compensation for damage incurred as a result of abuse of power and control
  • Advised an engineering company in an arbitration proceeding involving a dispute regarding the 2014 World Cup stadium
  • Advised an engineering company in judicial and arbitral proceedings relating to insurance coverage for claims in construction sites, which revolved around the law applicable to the arbitration agreement (Brazilian or English) as well as aspects provided for in the insurance contract
  • Advised shareholders in an arbitration proceeding filed against an investment fund, its manager and its consultant, over the compensation for damage resulting from poor management
