New partner and team join the Dispute Resolution area to further reinforce Demarest’s performance in national and international arbitrations

As part of its firmwide strategy, Demarest today announces the hiring of Ricardo Aprigliano as its new partner, bringing about the incorporation of the firm Aprigliano Advogados, in a move to further strengthen its Dispute Resolution practice and to focus on complex domestic and cross border arbitrations.

Ricardo arrives at Demarest alongside partners Christiane Siqueira and Maria Aparecida Gonçalves, with whom he has worked professionally for more than 20 years, as well as a team of four other lawyers.

Ricardo Aprigliano holds a doctorate and master’s degree, and is Associate Professor of Civil Procedure at the University of São Paulo’s School of Law, where he also graduated. He holds a specialization from the University of Florence (Italy), is an arbitrator and referee, as well as author of several books in the areas of Civil Procedure and Arbitration. He acts in cases ruled by at least ten of the main arbitration chambers in Brazil (such as CAM-CCBC, CMA-FIESP, AMCHAM, among others) and is recognized as one of the most respected arbitrators in the country.

“With the experience of almost 30 years in law and a team of this caliber, we will further bolster Demarest’s prominent position in complex arbitration disputes involving companies from different segments”, says Aprigliano. “Being part of the Demarest team is a challenge that stimulates and encourages me, as well as everyone on our team.”

Christiane Siqueira holds a degree in law from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP), a postgraduate degree in Civil Procedural Law from Centro de Extensão Universitária (CEU) and also in Consumer Relations Law from PUC/COGEAE.

Maria Aparecida Gonçalves holds a degree in law from Universidade Paulista, a specialization in Corporate Law from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FVG) and in Contract Law from Centro de Extensão Universitária (CEU).

The incorporation of the Aprigliano Advogados firm marks the fifth stage of a process of strong expansion in the last three months, with the arrival of nine more partners and 11 associates, in line with Demarest’s strategic plan for 2024. In addition to the recent promotion of five senior associates to partnership, as of January, Demarest will rack up a total of 81 partners working across multidisciplinary practices to provide high-quality legal services to more than 1,500 clients both within Brazil and in other countries.

“The arrival of Ricardo and his talented team continues to strengthen our firm in this area, which remains strong, structured and strategic, providing excellent service to our clients in complex cases,” says Paulo Rocha, Managing Partner of Demarest.

For Camila Biral, partner in the Dispute Resolution (Arbitration and Civil Litigation) area, “the arrival of Ricardo, with all his experience in arbitration and process, together with new partners and associates, demonstrates how we seek to increasingly strengthen our practice with a team that is academically and professionally very well prepared, and extremely dedicated to the cases of our clients”.
