Partner in Demarest's Mergers and Acquisitions and Wealth and Succession Structuring practices, Joyl Gondim holds a Law degree from PUC-SP, a postgraduate degree in American Law and Legal Institutions from the University of Wisconsin (USA), and a specialization in Business Administration from FGV/SP (CEAG/FGV). He previously worked as a foreign associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in New York (2007–2008), where he gained solid experience in M&A and Capital Markets. Since the beginning of his career, Joyl has played a significant role in M&A transactions of various sizes and across a broad range of industries, with particular emphasis on TMT, Consumer Goods, Life Sciences, Technology, Education, and Insurance. He also has extensive experience advising family-owned groups on estate and succession planning.

  • Assisted Mapfre Brasil in the negotiation with BB Seguridade S.A., which resulted in the reorganization of their strategic partnership in the insurance sector, including the acquisition of BB Seguridade’s stake in Mapfre BB SH2 Participações S.A., for an approximate amount of BRL 2.4 billion
  • Assisted Ser Educacional, one of the largest private education groups in Brazil and the market leader in the North and Northeast regions, in more than 10 transactions involving the acquisition of educational institutions across the country, totaling over BRL 500 million
  • Assisted L. Catterton, a private equity fund focused on investments in consumer and retail companies, in its investment of more than BRL 600 million in Cantu Pneus, the leading tire trading company in Brazil
  • Assisted Cantu Pneus in the acquisition of the GP Pneus group, the leading tire retailer in Southern Brazil, totaling an investment of approximately BRL 1 billion
  • Assisted Grupo Alares in several acquisitions of internet service providers across multiple regions in Brazil, totaling disbursements exceeding BRL 500 million
