Partner in Demarest’s Environmental and Dispute Resolution practice areas, Eduardo de Campos Ferreira holds an LL.M. (Master’s) in Diffuse and Collective Rights, a specialization degree in Environmental Law and Strategic Sustainability Management, and bachelor’s degree in law from PUC-SP. He has extensive experience in judicial and administrative litigation across a wide range of environmental matters, as well as in advisory work, providing strategic environmental advice on critical issues. He has advised clients in negotiating general agreements and settlement agreements with various authorities, as well as with Indigenous peoples and traditional peoples and communities. He assists clients in crisis management and M&A deals involving companies and real estate assets. He represents clients across numerous industries, including agribusiness, energy, infrastructure, mining, and steelmaking. Eduardo has also been recognized by leading legal publications such as Chambers, Legal 500, Latin Lawyer, and Análise Advocacia.

  • Assisted in negotiating and executing the new settlement agreement to repair damage arising from the collapse of the Fundão dam, in Mariana, Minas Gerais, worth approximately BRL 170 billion.
  • Assisted in the public-interest civil action and in administrative and criminal proceedings associated with Operation Arquimedes, related to logging activities in the Amazon.
  • Advised a client on environmental and regulatory matters involving research with seeds and agricultural pesticides, before the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and state authorities.
  • Assisted in negotiating an agreement to establish socio-environmental mitigation measures for impacts arising from mining activities in Alagoas.
