Partner in Demarest’s Labor practice area, Eduardo Alcântara Lopes holds a specialization degree in Labor Law and Procedure from Pontifícia Universidade Católica (PUC-SP/COGEAE), as well as a specialization degree in Collective and Union Bargaining from Wilson Cerqueira. Currently, he is taking an MBA in People Management from Universidade de São Paulo (USP). He concentrates his practice in highly complex individual and collective lawsuits. Among his main clients are companies in the fields of industry, retail, energy, consumer goods and technology. He is a member of the Brazilian Section of Young Jurists of the International Society for Labor and Social Security Law (ISLSSL), a member of the Instituto Latinoamercano de Derecho del Trabajo y de la Seguridad Social (ILTRAS) and a member of Comunidad para la Investigación y el Estudio Laboral y Ocupacional (CIELO).

  • Advised a multinational oil and gas company in a public civil action filed by the Office of Public Prosecutor of Labor that sought to hold the client liable for the sinking of four neighborhoods in the city of Maceió/AL, involving the amount of BRL 1.7 billion.
  • Advised a domestic company in the integrated logistics sector in the auction of a hotel in the amount of BRL 40 million.
  • Advised a multinational company involved in the assembly and maintenance of elevators and escalators in a public civil action filed by the Office of Public Prosecutor of Labor, which sought the re-drafting of all the adopted occupational health and safety standards, involving BRL 35 million.
  • Advised banking institutions in public civil actions filed by the Office of Public Prosecutor of Labor in relation to the Social and Environmental Responsibility Policy (PRSA) provided for in BACEN Resolution No. 4,327, of April 25, 2014.
  • Advised a domestic textile company in a public civil action filed by the Office of Public Prosecutor of Labor that involved the issue of child labor, analogous to slavery, and the loss of their CNPJ in the State of São Paulo.
