Partner in Demarest's Environmental practice area, Marcelo Azevedo is pursuing a doctorate in Environmental Law from USP. He holds a master's degree in Public Law, a specialization degree in Environmental Management and Sustainability, and a bachelor's degree in Law from UFMG. He served as coordinator and professor of postgraduate courses in Environmental Law and Mining Law at CEDIN Educacional, and as professor of postgraduate courses in Environmental and Mining Law at PUC-MG, in Belo Horizonte, and Mining Law at Uni-Anhanguera, in Goiânia, and undergraduate professor at Uni-BH. Marcelo Azevedo has been recognized by leading legal publications such as Análise Advocacia and Leaders League.
- Assisted Meteoric Resource in obtaining the Preliminary License for the rare earth elements exploration project in southern Minas Gerais
- Advised Usiminas in court to reverse a freezing order of nearly BRL 370 million.
- Advised a cement company in the Midwest of Brazil in the annulment of tax assessment notices totaling BRL 900,000.
